El Arenal (El Arenal)
El Arenal is a town and municipality in the state of Jalisco in central-western Mexico. El Arenal is known as the gateway to the so-called "blue agave" region in the Jaliscan Highlands (Los Altos de Jalisco). The municipality has an area of approximately 182 km2.
As of 2005, the municipality had a total population of 13,574.
The municipality includes La Providencia (claimed to be the first to export tequila to Europe), Cascahuín, Don Rigo and Don Valente factories.
